Iranian qari Masoud Nouri is among those making it to the final round in the recitation category of the competition.
He attended the preliminary stage of the competition via videoconference back in July, reciting verses from Surah Al-An’am of the Holy Quran, and the organizing committee confirmed his qualification to compete in the finals.
Now the Quranic Affairs Center of Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization has announced that like previous years, the country’s representative in the prestigious Quranic event will be accompanied by a guide.
Nouri’s guide in this edition of the contest is Nosratollah Hosseini, a prominent Quran master, reciter, and teacher.
The 62nd edition of Malaysia International Al-Quran Recital and Memorization Assembly (MTHQA) was held online in the preliminary stage. The finals will be organized in-person later this month.
The MTHQA is being held again after a two-year suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Kuala Lumpur hosted the 61st edition in April 2019 and Iran’s representative Hadi Movahed Amin finished fourth after qaris from Malaysia, Algeria, and Morocco. More than 100 qaris and memorizers from 71 countries had participated in the previous edition.
